Descriptive Note
A selection of unregistered subject files, consisting of ring binders & manila folders. These files contain correspondence, reports, newspaper cuttings, leaflets and posters relating to the work of the Community Recreation Advisers, Social Services Unit, Community Development Directorate. This unit was disbanded in 1993 and replaced by the Recreation and Community Development Unit.
Kept by staff of the Recreation Section, Social Services Unit (Desrae Hunt, Wendy Mountfort, Diana Saxton, Kay Nilsen and others). Prior to 1989 Recreation Officers were employed by the Parks and Reserves Department (Parks and Recreation Department0 and worked in close association with the staff of the Community Services Section, City Planning Department (See Series 7/1/4).
