Descriptive Note

This correspondence appears to be part of the records relating to the Court Case Between J Milverton and the Borough Council in 1888. The three letters marked P, Q and U may have been exhibits in the Court Case. For engineering plans showing levels of Milverton's land and KLawau and Mangaone Streams (1888) see Series 4/8/3, Box 1. For reference to Court Case with Milverton, see Council Minute Book, PNCC 1/1/1, Volume 1, pp 165, 171, 242, 265, 269, 277, 321, 324, 364.

These letters were found at the bottom of file 67/3/1 (in series 1/5/5) in August 1986. They appear to have been placed on this file at the time it was created (1957), but they belong to a much earlier period than the other pre-1957 correspondence that is sometimes found on files in 1/5/5. It was therefore decided to place them in a series of their own.
