Illuminated manuscript celebrating the opening of the 2nd Fitzherbert Bridge on 20 July 1935.
Manuscript reads: "City of Palmerston North and County of Kairanga, Fitzherbert Bridge. This Bridge erected by the Palmerston North City council and the Kairanga County Council with the co-operation of the Main Highways Board, was opened on the 20th July 1935 by the Right Honourable Viscount Galway, G.C.M.G., D.S.O., O.B.E., Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies. Signed by us this 20th day of July 1935. Galway [signature], Governor-General; A E Mansford [signature], Mayor, City of Palmerston North; D Collis [signature], Chairman, County of Kairanga."
Illuminated manuscript hand-written in calligraphy with red, blue, green, silver and black ink. Includes an incomplete flower border on left side.
